2007 Guidelines and Criteria

 

The Contest

The 2007 Ayingo Foundation Poster Contest is an event in which students are encouraged to create their own poster based on healthy lifestyles. It promotes a dialogue about substance abuse, domestic violence and HIV prevention and helps youths come to make healthy lifestyle choices for themselves as well as spread the message of awareness and prevention to their peers. The contest provides a year round healthy lifestyles message via Joliet Magazine featuring the selected winning entries from the year's contest.

The Prize

  • Winning posters will be unveiled in Joliet Magazine reaching an audience of more than 10,000 readers
  • Your picture and the school you attend will also be represented in Joliet Magazine
  • The grand prize winner will win $1,000 cash the two runners up will both receive $500 and the fourth-sixth place winners will all receive a gift certificate from Best Buy.

Eligibility

All youths and young adults ages 9-18 are eligible.

Poster Theme

One of the following topics on prevention must be depicted in the artwork

  • Staying Drug Free
  • Saying No to Alcohol
  • Staying Active/ Overcoming Obesity
  • Nutrition
  • Peer Pressure
  • Tobacco and Smoking
  • HIV Prevention

Judging Criteria

  • Content accuracy
  • Visual communication of topic
  • Reproducibility
  • Originality

Artwork Requirements

  • Posters can be hand drawn or computer generated
  • Do not use any trademarked or copyrighted characters. 
  • Artwork must be original.
  • One of the seven topics must be identified in the title.
  • Topic and title must be on the Artwork Submission and Release form.
  • Use 11" x 17" white drawing paper.
  • Materials may include crayon, markers, paint (watercolor, tempera, acrylic), collage, photographs, or computer graphics.
  • Make lettering and message large enough to reproduce well.
  • Check for correct spelling of all words.
  • Copyrighted characters, such as Snoopy, product logos/names, such as Coke or Kleenex, cannot be used.
  • Student name must not be on the front of the artwork.
  • All pencil markings should be erased.
  • For computer generated artwork, submit a hard copy (may be 8.5" x 11") as all artwork will be judged from a hard copy. (The electronic version should be either a .tif or .jpg format.)

Entry Submission

Only one entry may be submitted per person.

The Artwork Submission and Release Form must be completely filled out, signed by a parent or guardian, and submitted with the poster. The Contest begins August 15, 2007 and ends at 5PM on September 15, 2007.
